Jeff Kampf aka Weatherhed, learned how to sing and play guitar at a very early age, and decided to make music a career. The name Weatherhed, a name given to him by his college friends because of his frizzy hair stuck! In the 1970's, he started in the music business at the age of 19, working at Record Plant Studios in New York City. He then went out on the road as a driver and road manager for the legendary singer/songwriter and guitar player, Dave Van Ronk. Dave was kind enough to teach Jeff about the many aspects of guitar playing and the music business. Jeff Kampf eventually enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music to study voice, and composition, and started his own entertainment business in 1980. He has always been a messenger and now is a college professor, teaching ancient history, and human rights. Along with spending time with his family, composing music, performing, singing, and playing music remain his first love. He is influenced by many ancient ideas, and musical pasts. He loves Indian, Persian, and Middle Eastern music. Jeff Kampf also love's Dead Can Dance, which you can hear in a lot of his compositions, and productions. He also listens to Miles Davis, and other "chilled out", bluesy artists like him, which influence some of his funky/jazzy compositions.
